Featured: Fun New Variations to Traditional Monopoly!

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

If you're a Monopoly fan, then you probably have at least one "themed" Monopoly set and have tried a few variations of classic Monopoly, and maybe even tries the subversive Anti-Monopoly. Monopoly Mega Edition is the best of the best of these variations, and there are some neat new rule twists.

  • Here's a fun variation: you now throw three dice, and one is a speed die, which allows for bonuses and faster trips around the board so that you can build your property holdings more quickly.
  • Before, you had houses and hotels. Now you also have skyscrapers!
  • The board is much larger, and there are more properties -- one more for each grouping, including a new utility and a train depot.
  • My favorite twist is the new building shortages feature, which prevents too many building being constructed.

This is the most fun I've had with Monopoly in years. It really has breathed life into an awesome game, and brought back a classic to our game nights!
